Johnson's bestseller during his lifetime and the song for which he is most widely remembered, "Terraplane" is written in open A tuning and played with a capo on the second fret. It's a great study in some of Johnson's standard licks and how he uses them.

Eric Clapton recorded this tune as "Crossroads" and made it a huge hit decades after Johnson's death, prompting great renewed interest in American blues music. Whether or not you believe that Johnson met his sad fate for having traded his soul for fame at the mythical crossroads, you'll appreciate the open A tuning and slide playing in this famous song.

This fast tune makes a good selection for players of any level. Featuring rhythm patterns that change with every verse, the song breaks down very nicely into iLevel arrangements. It's a fun and easy tune heavily influenced by Southern gospel music.
